PROCEDURE FOR REPORTING CONCERNS IN ANIMAL CARE AND TREATMENT

It is the policy of Siena Heights University that all animals in its care, or for which it is responsible, receive the best possible care. Concerns about animals should be reporting to any of the following:

  • The faculty member, department chair, or staff member involved (numbers and contact information can be found at the SHU home page)
  • Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (517-264-7637 or iacuc@sienaheights.edu)
  • After hours, weekend, and holidays, the SHU Campus Safety on campus: ext. -0 or -7800; off campus 517-264-7800, or
  • In case of emergency, call 911

The IACUC will review such concerns as required by law and will promptly investigate any report submitted to the committee. Every attempt will be made to maintain confidentiality regarding the source of the report it receives. No individual shall be discriminated against or be subject to any reprisal for reporting their concerns as prescribed under the USDA’s Animal Welfare Regulations, Subchapter A, Part A, Part 2, Subpart C, ยง2.31(c)(4).
