Hero Background 5

A few quick notes…

In order to better facilitate research and engagement in areas of social responsibility and social justice, the following list of resources has been compiled and organized by broad categories of social justice. Please note that many of the resources listed under one category could also be useful when working in other categories of social justice/responsibility. Please also keep in mind that many student groups who are not listed regularly sponsor events that deal with issues of social justice and/or social responsibility. For a comprehensive list of student clubs and organizations visit the STUDENT LIFE page.

SHU’s Service Learning Program is called Siena Serves. This program offers opportunities for students to serve their communities both local and global. Check out the SIENA SERVES website for more info!

If you are in need of a faculty/staff mentor or advice with research/projects in a specific area of social responsibility, please contact one of the committee members and they will provide you with the names of faculty and staff who may be willing to assist you.

The Adrian Dominican Sisters are active in many areas of social justice. If you are doing research or planning a project in a specific area of social responsibility/justice we encourage you to contact Sr. Mary Jones, Director of Mission Education  mjones11@sienaheights.edu to inquire about possible collaborations with the Adrian Dominican Sisters. We also encourage you to visit the ADS website for information about their mission and key issues & initiatives.

SHU’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion Sharese Mathis smathis@sienaheights.edu would also be a wonderful resource for many projects in various areas of social justice and social responsibility.

The Campus Ministry page has some great links for those seeking to volunteer locally. Check them out here

Lastly, PLEASE also take a look at the links on the FACULTY/STAFF RESOURCES page. Many of the online resources that provided information on a variety of social justice issues are located in the ONLINE RESOURCES section of that page.
