The Minor – Philosophy

The Philosophy Minor is designed to supplement a student’s primary course of study by enabling them to think critically and competently about a wide range of philosophical issues and problems. Minors will be prepared to enter a number of diverse fields, including education and social work.

It is quite possible to achieve a minor in philosophy in addition to a student’s primary major, and it can helpfully augment a number of different disciplines. If you have questions, or want to discuss possibilities, please feel free to stop by or get in touch!

Program Requirements for the Minor:
PHI 110: Logic OR PHI 210: Symbolic Logic
PHI 220: Introduction to Ethics
PHI 340: Ancient Philosophy OR PHI 341: Modern Philosophy
PHI 320: Social Ethics OR PHI 362: Social and Political Philosophy
PHI 364: Philosophy of Science OR PHI 365: Knowledge and Reality

Courses are offered on a rotating schedule throughout the academic year. Professors regularly offer independent/directed studies to ensure that minors are able to take the classes that they need.
