Torch Night Ceremony

The Torch Night ceremony is a Siena Heights legacy tradition. This candle and rose ceremony is a symbolic exchange between a senior graduate and an underclassman. Each graduate invites an SHU undergraduate student, usually a close friend, to be his or her “torch.” The graduate receives a rose, the Dominican symbol of friendship, and gives the undergraduate a candle symbolizing the light of truth and the “torch” of learning. This symbolic act is the underclassman carrying on the legacy of the graduating senior. Graduates wear their caps and gowns for this event.

This year’s ceremony is scheduled for Friday, April 26, at 6:00 p.m. in St. Dominic Chapel. Line-up for the ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. Students from all SHU locations are welcome to participate. To register, please fill and submit the form to the right. The deadline for reservations is April 16. If you have any questions, contact Thomas Puszczewicz or call 517-264-7192.

Torch Night registration is closed for submissions.
