Humanities Division Purpose Statement
The Humanities Division is central to Siena Heights University’s mission and every SHU student’s liberal arts education. Our division houses six programs: Communications, English, History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and World Languages. We are a vibrant and engaged community of faculty and staff who prioritize teaching our students to become more engaged, thoughtful, and empathetic citizens of their communities and our global society.
The division organizes many events for campus and the broader community, including the Great Lakes Philosophy Conference, the annual Ethics Lecture, the Ethnic and Gender Studies Institute speaker series, and the English Program Speaker Series.
