English Program Overview
Versatile and enriching, the English program is a vibrant part of the liberal arts at Siena Heights. Siena Heights’ unique curriculum provides students with a breadth of courses in literature, literary and cultural theory, and writing. Our English major and minor offer concentrations in Literary Studies and Secondary English Education. Our English: Creative Writing major and minor allow students to take workshops throughout their academic career and to focus on fiction, poetry, scriptwriting, and unique areas like graphic novels. Across the English program, students can take innovative and exciting courses that explore British, American and World literatures, as well as specialized topics like African-American studies and gender studies and unique courses like Gothic Fiction and Food and Literature.
The English program also coordinates SHU’s composition courses. New students are placed into a sequence of courses, culminating in ENG 102, which fulfills the university’s English Composition liberal arts requirement.
