Spirit of Change

Common Dialogue Day was held on November 9, 2021. Thanks for attending!

What is Common Dialogue Day?

Common Dialogue Day is a Siena Heights University tradition rooted in our Catholic and Dominican heritage. This day allows for discussion, debate and reflection around prominent themes in the Dominican tradition; prayer, study, community, preaching/service. Siena Heights University cherishes its Catholic and Dominican heritage and expects that its graduates will embody values of these traditions as they are encountered throughout their academic experience.

The Spirit of Change

This year’s Common Dialogue Day is Tuesday, Nov. 9, incorporating the academic theme of “Spirit of Change.” The keynote speaker is Rudy Valdez, who talked on “Finding Your Voice”. Valdez is an Emmy Award-winning Michigan-raised, New York City-based filmmaker committed to creating social, cultural and political stories through a cinematic and meaningful lens. He started in film as a Camera Operator on the Peabody Award-winning, Sundance series Brick City and went onto direct a true passion project, ”The Sentence (HBO).”
